Windows Audio Bug - Bluetooth Headset Volume Not Changing

How to solve the bug that the volume slider does not move when your Bluetooth headset is connected

The Problem

I somehow changed the volume of only one of my Bluetooth earbuds. This lead to Windows not letting me change the volume once the headset was connected. The volume slider was frozen when I tried to change the volume.

The Fix

Thanks to this article by The Windows Club I solved the problem.

  1. Change the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Bluetooth\Audio\AVRCP\CT to 1
  2. Reboot the device
  3. Change the registry key back to 0
  4. Reboot
  5. Volume slider works fine again
